Donald
F. Wheeler
Donald F. Wheeler, Ph.D., served as
president of NJHEPS (New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for
Sustainability) from 1999-2002, and continues as Immediate Past President,
and as a part-time staff member.
Dr. Wheeler was a
co-founder of NJHEPS, together with Dr. Clifford Peterson, professor of
international politics at Ramapo College and Dr. Robert A. Scott, then
president of Ramapo College.
He was Chairperson of
the New Jersey High Performance Building Design Work Group, from 1999
through February, 2003.
Don is Professor of
Sociology and Global Studies at Kean University where he directs the Center
for Global Studies, which he established in l985. He
also served as president of the Global Studies Consortium of New Jersey
Colleges and Universities, 1987-1995.
He was Research
Associate, Institution for Social and Policy Studies, Department of
Sociology, Yale University, and Fulbright Scholar and Associate Professor of
Sociology, Tokyo Woman’s Christian University, Tokyo, Japan.
Prof. Donald Wheeler
co-authored the book, Academic Power in Six Countries, Praeger
Publishers, and has authored numerous articles and successful grant proposals.
He earned his B.A. in
history from Oberlin College; M. Div. in social ethics from Colgate
Rochester Divinity School; M.A. in sociology and East Asian Studies
Certificate from Columbia University and Ph.D. in sociology from Columbia
University.
