July 2009 - Baroness Glenys Kinnock, the United Kingdom's Minister for Europe,
met with her new French counterpart, Pierre Lellouche, in London on Wednesday to discuss
UK - French plans to work closely together on European Security and Defence
Policy, EU enlargement in the Western Balkans, and a range of EU institutional
issues.
These discussions
were in preparation for the UK - France Summit in Evian that will be held on 6
July between the UK's Prime Minister Gordon Brown and France's President Nicholas
Sarkozy on Monday.
A similar summit was
held between the two countries a year ago when they worked together on
security and defence issues, climate change and international development.
In a related event,
Baroness Kinnock delivered remarks to a reception marking the beginning of
Sweden's presidency of the European Union, which was held on Wednesday at the Guildhall
in London.
