April 2008 -- NEW YORK – To kick-off Earth Week,
Clorox Chairman and CEO Don Knauss yesterday rang The Opening BellSM
at the New York Stock Exchange.
Knauss
was joined by Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope to promote Clorox’s new
Green Works™ brand of natural cleaning products and celebrate an alliance that
also helps deliver the organization’s environmental message to mainstream
consumers interested in living a more natural lifestyle.
"We're
proud to align the Green Works brand with the Sierra Club," said Knauss.
"Our partnership with Sierra Club underscores the benefits of corporations
working together with environmental organizations to deliver solutions that
protect our communities and the planet."
Beginning
this month and just in time for Earth Day, all five Green Works products will
feature the Sierra Club logo, marking the brand's financial commitment to
supporting the organization's conservation efforts, including the protection of
America's clean air, clean water, wildlife and special places.
"The
Sierra Club is proud to work with Clorox and the Green Works brand to make
natural cleaning more mainstream," said Sierra Club Executive Director Carl
Pope. "This Earth Day, the Sierra Club is reminding people that 'we can do
it' — we have the ingenuity to build a greener economy, create jobs, and leave
a planet that's safer and cleaner for our children. Products like Green Works
natural cleaners are proof that the necessary technical skills exist to deliver
solutions that can help transform America's sustainable future, and we commend
Clorox for this effort."
Green
Works is the first natural product line with international distribution.
To date,
Green Works natural cleaners have launched in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada and
Mexico.
The
availability and affordability of Green Works products can help consumers take a
step toward living a more natural lifestyle without paying a significant
premium.
"Since
Green Works products entered the market, we've seen very strong growth in the
natural cleaning category," said Knauss. "We are encouraged by the
tremendous response from our retail partners as well as consumers."
Green
Works natural cleaning products are made with plant-based ingredients,
formulated to be biodegradable, packaged in recyclable materials and not tested
on animals.
Green
Works products are available at food, drug and mass retail outlets in the U.S.,
Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico. The products carry suggested retail prices from
$2.99 to $3.39. For more information on Green Works natural cleaners, visit www.greenworkscleaners.com.
