Abril 2008 -- Las
autoridades sanitarias brasileñas informaron que al 28 de marzo se registraron
más de 120.500 casos de dengue en ese país.
La portavoz en
Ginebra de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Fadella Chaib, explicó que
esa cifra incluye unos 647 casos de fiebre hemorrágica, de los cuales 48
fallecieron.
En el estado de Río
de Janeiro, hasta el 2 de abril se diagnosticaron con dengue unas 57.000
personas y se han registrado 67 muertes.
“Se han registrado
casos severos de dengue entre los niños y el 50% de los casos mortales eran
menores de 13 años”, dijo la portavoz.
