Mrs. Robinson's life in public service is characterized by concerted efforts to use her offices, not only to improve the situations of marginalized groups in her own Ireland, but also to draw attention to global crises of human rights violations. She is often critical of the international community for not doing more to uphold the human rights standards it has created.
She is the Founder and the Director of the Ethical Globalization Initiative, www.eginitiative.org, which seeks to integrate human rights standards into a more ethical globalization process and to support local and national human rights efforts.
She has explained that the debate over human rights has passed beyond governments to civic groups and individuals who are now crucial players in pushing for change and enforcement.
"Local New Jersey activists and civic groups concerned with humanitarian issues should find her message most inspiring," said Stan Johnson, Division & Chapter President, United Nations Association.
"With all hopes of seeing you for the reception and at the talk," said Stan Johnson.
