UN ANO LA MISION DE PAZ DE LA ONU EN HAITI: 15/10/2007 (MaximsNews Network)

El Consejo de Seguridad adoptó hoy una resolución
por unanimidad que extiende la misión de paz de las Naciones Unidas en Haití,
MINUSTAH, un año más.
La
resolución considera que se han producido mejoras significativas en el país
caribeño en el ámbito de la seguridad en los últimos meses, aunque reconoce
que la situación continúa siendo frágil
El documento subraya que la estabilidad de Haití sigue viéndose perjudicada
por el tráfico ilegal de drogas y armas a nivel internacional. Asimismo, afirma
que para que el país sea más seguro, es necesario que se respeten los derechos
humanos, que los procesos judiciales sean justos y que finalice la impunidad.
La resolución autoriza a que MINUSTAH esté formada por 7.060 militares y 2.091
policías internacionales. Su mandato concluirá el 15 de octubre de 2008.
El Consejo de Seguridad igualmente aprobó otra resolución extendiendo por seis
meses la misión de paz de la ONU en Georgia.
