PAKISTAN: ONU-HABITAT DESTACA ESFUERZOS DE RECONSTRUCCION: 11/10/2007 (MaximsNews Network)

A dos años del devastador terremoto que asoló el
norte de Pakistán, el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para Asentamientos
Urbanos (ONU-Hábitat) se refirió hoy a la reconstrucción en ese país de
150.000 viviendas como uno de los esfuerzos más exitosos de su tipo en los últimos
años.
La
reparación de las casas, ahora más resistentes a los terremotos, cuenta con la
asesoría de ONU-Hábitat, que asistió en el establecimiento de doce centros de
reconstrucción y capacitó a más de 12.000 personas en la zona del desastre.
En una conmemoración del organismo de la ONU y funcionarios locales en
Islamabad, se informó que están en construcción 200.000 viviendas de las
600.000 planificadas para concluirse a mediados del próximo año.
El terremoto de Pakistán ocurrido en la región de Cachemira en octubre de
2005, dejó al menos 75.000 muertos y más de tres millones de damnificados.
