LEADERS
OF N.J. CLIMATE MARCH (APRIL 13-16)
WELCOME U.S. SUPREME COURT RULING ON
EPA & GLOBAL WARMING (MaximsNews.com, U.N.)

Carlos
Rymer, coordinator of the New Jersey
Climate March, welcomed this ruling and
stated:
This
is one of the most important
environmental rulings of the Supreme
Court to date, and the first one to
concern global warming, which is known
to be largely caused by humans global
warming pollution," he said.

Previously, the Bush-appointed EPA
argued that it did not have to regulate carbon dioxide emissions under the Clean
Air Act because carbon dioxide did not pose a discernable harm.
But with the stream of new evidence
and conclusive scientific reports, it is clear that carbon dioxide will have
severe effects around the world because it is heating up the planet.
This decision comes in when the New
Jersey Climate March, a state-wide effort to demand strong state action to cut
global warming pollution to 1990 levels by 2020 and 80% below 1990 levels by
2050, is gaining strong momentum.

CLIMATE MARCH ON APRIL 13-16: RUTGERS TO
TRENTON
The Climate March will take place
from April 13 to April 16, beginning at Rutgers-New Brunswick with a kickoff
rally featuring Assemblywoman Linda Stender, the prime assembly sponsor of the
Global Warming Response Act, ground-breaking legislation that would bring New
Jerseys global warming pollution to 1990 levels by 2020.
The Climate March will end in front
of the State House in Trenton with a large rally that will feature legislators
who are in support of the Global Warming Response Act and statewide leaders of
major environmental organizations.
The March will also feature large
rallies at Princeton University and The College of New Jersey before ending at
Trenton.
"We are now seeing a sea
change both in the political arena and in the public, said Ted Glick,
co-leader of the Climate March.
When we hear that billions of
people will be disproportionately affected through lack of food, no access to
water, and displacement, especially in the developing world, we need to rise to
the challenge and do justice," he said.
"Europe and many developing
countries are already on their way to slashing their global warming pollution.
We need to begin aggressive action now to cut carbon 80% by 2050, and well
begin this year in New Jersey with passage of the Global Warming Response Act,
continued Glick.
Hundreds of people are expected to
fill the streets as they march down to Trenton in support of bold legislation to
fight this planetary crisis.
